Mr. DeBartolo's "showplace" was the enormous RANDALL PARK MALL, which was built in the Village of North Randall, an inner ring suburb of Cleveland. Christened in August of 1976, the super-sized shopping hub encompassed an astounding 2,196,100 leasable square feet and contained over 150 stores and services under its roof.

By the late 1970s, the DeBartolo Corporation had expanded its scope all the way over to America's Pacific coast. The first stores in Greater Seattle's ALDERWOOD MALL began business in October 1979.

Orange County, California's MISSION VIEJO MALL was another "left coast" DeBartolo development. The complex, also dedicated in October 1979, morphed into THE SHOPS AT MISSION VIEJO in 1999.

Back east, Greater Pittsburgh's CENTURY III MALL was the third DeBartolo project to be christened in October 1979. The massive complex originally encompassed 1,273,000 leasable square feet, with a tenant list of 170 stores and services.
