The first expansion of the ROSEDALE mall added Penney's and "Monkey Wards" stores to its north and south sides. The former was dedicated in August 1977, with Wards welcoming its first shoppers in September 1979. With these improvements, the complex spanned around 987,000 leasable square feet, with a tenant roster of 145 stores. Free parking was now provided for 4,700 autos.

The northern rim of ROSEDALE was developed in the 1980s. PAVILION PLACE opened in 1985. This enclosed mall failed to establish a niche and was redeveloped as CROSSROADS OF ROSEDALE. Dedicated in 1990, this power center encompasses 327,500 leasable square feet and houses eleven stores.

LOEHMANN'S PLAZA was completed in 1986. Like PAVILION PLACE, it was unsuccessful. The strip center was re-launched as ROSEDALE COMMONS in 1989. It presently spans 177,400 leasable square feet, with eighteen stores and services.

ROSEDALE CENTER was expanded again between 1990 and 1992. A new Dayton's and two parking garages were a carbon copy of those recently added to sister center SOUTHDALE. The original Dayton's (in dark gray) has been sectioned into inline stores. The mall now encompasses approximately 1,246,400 leasable square feet and contains 165 stores. There was free parking for 6,300 autos.
