SNOW HEIGHTS CENTER was rebuilt as an enclosed complex in the late 1960s. This ad, from November 1969, promotes THE MALL as "the ONLY heated and air-conditioned mall in New Mexico." However, a historical fact check reveals that this statement was incorrect. The enclosed LORETTO DE LAS CRUCES mall, in Las Cruces, had been dedicated back in April 1966.

THE MALL was anchored by a Woolco discount mart; the chain's ninety-second United States store. It included an attached -6-bay- Auto Service Center.

The shopping hub's days as THE MALL were short. By 1970, the complex was being promoted in print ads as (the) "Mighty Mall." The official name was not changed...at least for the time being.

Our second SNOW HEIGHTS-THE MALL layout dates to 1970. The big stores of the day were the aforementioned Furr's supermarket and Woolco, as well as Furr's Cafeteria, Hancock Fabrics and Yonemoto's. THE MALL covered around 266,000 leasable square feet and housed twenty-six stores. Free parking was provided for 1,800 autos.
