The Malco Trio Theatre has been in operation at CENTRAL MALL since the mid-1970s. The venue opened, as the Malco Trio II, in November 1974.

CENTRAL MALL was expanded in the mid-to-late '80s. A 3-level Northeast Wing was added, which included a basement parking deck, Second Level office block and Dillard's Women's anchor store. A shuttered Boston Store was also divided into inline stores. When all construction dust settled, the shopping complex covered over 800,000 leasable square feet.
