Cincinnati's Kenwoods

Kenwood Plaza

The first of Greater Cincinnati's Kenwood shopping complexes opened in September 1956. "Beautiful, Tremendous and Convenient," KENWOOD PLAZA housed thirty-two stores and services. The strip center was an early Edward J. DeBartolo development.

The H & S Pogue Company dedicated a KENWOOD PLAZA location in April 1959. Encompassing 65,000 square feet, it would be expanded on one occasion, when it was more than tripled in size!

The original KENWOOD PLAZA strip center encompassed approximately 250,000 leasable square feet and housed thirty-one stores and services. Its vast parking area could accommodate 3,500 autos. This circa-1959 layout includes the newly-built Pogue's department store and recently-enlarged McAlpin's.
