The vast complex was the first large-scale, fully-enclosed shopping facility east of the Mississippi. Interior malls had been built in Greater Baltimore, Charlotte and Birmingham. However, they were in the 235-to-350 thousand square foot range. The CHERRY HILL Strawbridge & Clothier anchor store -itself- encompassed 215 thousand square feet!
