An ultra-modern Montgomery Ward was the center anchor of TOPANGA PLAZA. The store opened along with the May Company in February 1964.

Los Angeles-based The Broadway was the original mall's third anchor. The store, seventeenth in the chain, welcomed its first patrons in August 1964.
