Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet!

WALT WHITMAN CENTER was commonly referred to as "Walt Whitman Mall" for several years. By the time of this circa-1989 logo, the complex had been officially re-named.

The complex remained essentially the same into the early '90s. It entered a renovation phase in 1995. A shuttered A & S was rebuilt and opened, as a new Macy's, in 1996. The original Macy's became a Bloomingdale's in 1998. Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue also added stores in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
