Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

Philly-based Lit Brothers anchored TYSONS CORNER CENTER between 1973 and 1975. After this store was shuttered, it re-opened, as the Bloomingdale's seen here, in late 1976.

There were many contentious court cases concerning TYSONS malls. Lerner Enterprises and the Rouse Company duked it out in the early '60s. Lerner (and their proposed TYSONS CORNER CENTER) emerged victorious. The property that the Rouse Company was thwarted in developing was eventually utilized for the TYSONS GALLERIA mall, which opened in October 1988.
