Lord & Taylor's first Hartford area store opened at BISHOP'S CORNER CENTER in February 1953. It was the chain's first shopping center location. The mercantile relocated to this store, in WESTFARMS MALL, in  April 1983.

A site plan from 1983 shows the new Lord & Taylor, which has just been added to the west side of the center. The mall's gross leasable area is now approximately 984,000 square feet.
