Boston's General Drive-In Corporation, which would eventually morph into General Cinema Corporation (or GCC) Theatres, built Mesquite, Texas' Big Town Theatre as an outparcel of BIG TOWN MALL. The AT-MALL venue opened in 1964, had been divided into a twin-plex by the early 1980s and was shuttered in 1999. It was demolished in 2006.
Birmingham, Alabama's EASTWOOD MALL was expanded with the IN-MALL Eastwood Mall Theatre, a cinematic venue in business between 1964 and 1993. The 900 seat complex had been split into a tri-plex in the mid-1970s. It, and its mother mall, had a destiny date with a wrecking ball in 2006.
