HQ'd in Canton, Massachusetts, Hills would eventually operate two hundred and fourteen stores in twelve states, with none in its native New England. In its early days, the chain refused to accept credit cards. This policy was reversed in November 1989. Stores maintained a large selection of toys year round, with marginal lines of sporting goods, auto accessories and lawn and garden items.
