Following the introduction of commercial television in the late 1940s, the major movie studios out in "Tinseltown" began to worry. All of the for-free programming -in the convenience of one's own living room- could result in greatly-reduced receipts at box offices across the nation. To combat the trend, big-budget -epic-type- Technicolor films are being produced, in wide screen and with stereophonic sound.
