Located on the northeastern outskirts of Pottsville, in unincorporated Schuykill ["skookle"] County, FAIRLANE VILLAGE MALL originally encompassed 421,000 leasable square feet. It's Woolco, on the south end, encompassed 79,900 of these.

The Johnstown-based Glosser Brothers department store chain spun off its Gee Bee discount mart operation in the 1960s. By the late 1970s, there were Gee Bee stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The chain was in decline by 1992, when it was purchased -and rebranded- by Columbus, Ohio's Value City.
