A vacant Montgomery Ward, at the front of the complex, was bulldozed in mid-2011. A large-scale remodeling was planned. Originally, this is how the Ward-less south facade was to appear, post-renovation. A new Main Entrance would have been flanked by large H & M and Forever 21 stores.

Renovation plans were scaled down considerably. Nonetheless, the interior and exterior were given a thorough makeover and an H & M store was installed (but not in the area originally plotted). Plans to move the Food Court to the back of the mall were also scrapped.

When re-construction dust settled, FORD CITY MALL had been thoroughly updated and beautified. Here, we see the north entrance, which faces the North Mall strip center at the rear of the complex.
