A circa-2012 site plan shows a nifty method for dealing with a pesky vacant anchor store. Just knock it down! The mall proper, now Montgomery Ward-less, houses around one hundred and seven store spaces. Conway Fashion Discount, which had replaced the North Mall Sears, would close in 2015.
If all goes as planned, this is how the south facade of FORD CITY MALL could appear in a few years. The interior would be gutted, its Food Court moved, and new H & M and Forever 21 stores built in existing mall space.

A tentative FORD CITY MALL plan, dated 2019. A massive renovation of the complex would reconfigure one hundred and seven inline store spaces into thirty-two. Among seven big-box stores would be Dick's Sporting Goods and the aforementioned H & M and Forever 21. On the periphery of the mall, eight outparcel structures -mostly fast-food restaurants- would be built.
