By the mid-1970s, the "Shopping City" moniker had become dated. The complex was officially renamed. By this time, the original dumbell plan mall had been expanded again. An East Wing, and Foley's anchor store, were completed in 1974. 3 years later, a new Lord & Taylor was dedicated on the west side of the center. MEMORIAL CITY MALL now encompassed approximately 1.3 million leasable square feet.
