A major renovation of 163rd STREET CENTER was completed in October 1982. The shopping hub was enclosed with a teflon-coated fiberglass roof, known as "The Dome". The name of the shopping facility was also changed to MALL AT 163rd STREET (a.k.a. "Miracle At 163rd Street").

In this circa-1982 plan, changes made during the 1960s and '70s are shown in dark gray. Renovations in the 1960s expanded Burdines and added the center's first parking garage and cinema. In the early '70s, Richards was extended southward and upward and the northeast mall rebuilt. Jordan Marsh became a third anchor. Early '80s construction is shown in light gray.
