A Food Court (in dark gray) was installed in existing space in 1986. 4 years later, a rival shopping mall opened in nearby Springfield. This prompted the owners of VALLEY RIVER CENTER to expand their property. A Seattle-based The Bon Marche came on board, as a fifth anchor, in August 1990. It connected to a new Northwest Wing (in medium gray). The mall now spanned around 921,000 leasable square feet.
