The WONDERLAND CENTER mall was built on the site of a municipal airport. The complex was anchored by Montgomery Ward and Dearborn-based Federal. There were also Kresge and Woolworth 5 & dimes and Wrigley and Food Fair grocery stores. In 1959, the parking area had spaces for 5,000 autos.
