This is how a new "mixed-use environment" was to be configured. The mall between two anchors would be bulldozed (again), with a tree-lined grid of streets created. New retail, residential, medical and entertainment structures would have been built.

Alas, plans for the prospective LANDMARK "walkable, mixed-use urban village" were abandoned in the early 2020s. A subsequent scenario for redevelopment proposed that a new hospital be built on a cleared LANDMARK MALL site. Demolition of the vacant shopping center got underway in May 2022, with construction of WEST END ALEXANDRIA commencing soon after.
