Northwestern Ohio's Lima Mall


The seventh mall-type complex developed by Ohio's Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation was located in the northwest corner of the Buckeye State. LIMA MALL was officially dedicated, with thirteen stores, in November 1965.

A full-line "Penneys," anchoring the west end of LIMA MALL, opened its doors in January 1966.

While the DeBartolo Corporation was developing LIMA MALL, another Youngstown-based company was building their own "Limaland" shopping complex. Stores in William Cafaro & Associates' AMERICAN MALL began opening in February 1965.
