The complex was fully-enclosed and climate-controlled in 1975 and '76. Common areas were embellished with trees, shrubs, fountains and works of art. In this image, we see the West -or Lazarus- Wing. The Limited is on the left, with Lerner Shops across the mallway.

J.C. Penney was added to the south side of the mall in 1979. The in-mall cinema was replaced by a freestanding 8-plex in the mid-1980s. A 9-bay Food Court was built in existing store space in the mid-1990s. At the time of this circa-2000 layout, NORTHLAND encompasses around 986,800 leasable square feet. The store count stands at 100, but not for long.
