In 2008, the latest additions to the store directory were Old Navy (2000) and Kohl's (2008). Kohl's would shutter their NORTHLAKE store in June 2016, with Sears following suit in September 2018. J.C. Penney would close for good in late 2020.

A Dallas-based company bought the bulk of NORTHLAKE MALL in February 2016. They also acquired the soon-to-be-vacant Sears. It was said that the struggling mall was going to be redeveloped as an open-air venue. It wasn't. Emory Healthcare opened a medical facility, in the old Sears and Kohl's stores, in 2021. Inline mall stores were given eviction notices in June 2026.
