Lord & Taylor joined the mall as part of a GALLERIA II expansion. The project added nearly 500,000 leasable square feet to the complex.

By the mid-'80s, the shopping hub is officially known as THE GALLERIA (or HOUSTON GALLERIA). It has been expanded twice. The original section, or GALLERIA I, is shown in black. GALLERIA II (with four floors) appears in dark gray. GALLERIA III (consisting of three floors) is indicated in medium gray. With these additions, the mega mall now spans approximately 1,422,000 leasable square feet.
