Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

We zoom forward in time to the STONESTOWN GALLERIA of 2012. By this time, the old Joseph Magnin store, on the north end, has gone through five tenant changes. Its latest leasee, Fitness USA, will soon close and be replaced by another gym facility.

Although termini may have changed over the years, the M Ocean View route of the San Francisco Municipal Railway (or Muni) has serviced the STONESTOWN mall since its inception, in 1952.

Nordstrom presided over the south end of the STONESTOWN complex for over 30 years. The luxury department store welcomed first shoppers in April 1988. The final sale took place in September 2019. Much of the vacant building has been taken by an expanded Target store.
