PONTIAC MALL, the Motor City's first enclosed shopping center, opened in the spring of 1962. The 8 million dollar complex was anchored by Montgomery Ward and a Hudson's Budget Store, with supermarkets on its north and south ends. There was free parking for 4,000 autos.
