Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

KINGS PLAZA was built to serve Brooklyn, the most populous of the five New York City boroughs. In late 1970, the shiny new, 50 million dollar complex encompassed approximately 1,078,700 leasable square feet and housed seventy-nine stores and services. Free parking was provided for 3,700 autos (parking fees would be instituted in January 1984).

The mall has most of its shipping and receiving done via a rooftop loading dock. This is similar to overhead freight receiving systems at Houston's MEYERLAND PLAZA and Miami's NORTHSIDE CENTER.
