The mall was expanded between 1972 and 1983. A West Wing extension (medium gray) was completed in 1973. A new Liberty House opened in 1974. It eventually morphed into the Frederick & Nelson seen here. A Northeast Wing (dark gray) was dedicated in 1981. It brought Sears into the mall. Nordstrom was enlarged in 1983 (light gray).  The complex now covered 1,400,000 leasable square feet and contained 130 stores. For a time, it was the largest mall in the Pacific Northwest. 


The TACOMA MALL Food Court was installed in a vacant Lucky Stores space. The culinary complex opened in May of the year 2000.
