By the 1990s, the demographics around SOUTH DEKALB MALL had changed. The shopping hub began to decline, but was given a reprieve when its stores started to be marketed toward the affluent Afro-American community now residing in its vicinity.

Our second SOUTH DEKALB site plan depicts the mall as it was configured in 1999. Peripheral structures, such as the One South Dekalb mini-mall and Winn-Dixie supermarket, had been built in the 1970s. A recently-completed face lift has added a Food Court to the center of the complex.
A new proprietor came on the scene in the early 2000s and renamed the mall THE GALLERY AT SOUTH DEKALB. In this 2012 photo, we see its Main Entrance, which is flanked by Piccadilly Cafeteria and Ultimate Sports Bar & Grill.
