Work on the mall's exterior face lift commenced in September 1988. The entire project wrapped up 11 months later, with completion of an interior refurbishment. A "Grand Re-opening" was held in August 1989. A new mall logo had also been created.

The main VALLEY WEST entrance, post-renovation. All mall entries now had new copper-roofed porticos. Note: units in California's Boston Stores chain were often called "Boston Store" or "The Boston Store."

Lastly, we see a section of rebuilt sidewalk. The circa-1973 exposed store service doors seen above have been hidden from view behind a series of brick enclosures.
