In 1972, the 15 million dollar FREMONT FASHION CENTER encompassed around 332,700 leasable square feet. Its parking area accommodated 2,300 autos. The complex was one of three to be serviced by the shiny new BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system. Other BART-adjacent malls were BAY FAIR CENTER {in San Leandro} and EL CERRITO PLAZA.

BART's Fremont station was one block north of FREMONT FASHION CENTER. The station served as the terminal for the Richmond-Fremont and Fremont-Daly City BART lines for over 44 years. In June 2020, service was extended to the Berryessa / North San Jose station.
