By the 21st century, the maze of below-grade shopping concourses was being marketed as a single entity known as CRYSTAL CITY SHOPS. The official website described the complex as an "unconventional collection of over 130 shops, restaurants and cafes along charming walkways."

CRYSTAL CITY SHOPS is depicted in the year 2008. Shops At 2100 Crystal Drive was originally known as Crystal Plaza Shops with Shops At The Mall formerly promoted as Crystal Mall Shops. Shops at 1750 Crystal Drive comprised the old Crystal Underground. By this time, the facility has been reconfigured with an at-grade Streetscape of boutiques and bistros. Other modifications have made the facility more pedestrian-friendly.
