NORTHWEST MALL, circa-2013. Most of the east parking area has been taken by the construction of High Occupancy Vehicle lanes on the adjacent US 290 freeway. The shopping center was officially shuttered in March 2017, with all stores having been shuttered by late 2021.

In 2018, it was announced that the mall site would be used for the southern terminal station on the prospective Texas Central Railway bullet train. The high-speed railway would initially link Dallas and Houston and use rolling stock similar to those on Japan's Shinkansen system (as seen above).
