America's Big Three retailers were at their peak in the mid-20th century. In 1950, Sears was the largest, followed by Montgomery Ward and J.C. Penney. The number two and three companies had changed places by 1968, with Wards bumped down to the number three position.
A physical layout of the "Monkey Wards" that anchored Plattsburgh, New York's PYRAMID MALL between April 1975 and December 1997. The store encompassed this single level, housed 84,000 square feet, and featured over 50 departments.
