The HEART OF HUNTSVILLE star had fallen by the late 1980s, with the complex being bested by newer and larger shopping hubs in its trade area. The moribund mall was unceremoniously knocked down in 2007, with a "new & improved" mixed-use complex -known as CONSTELLATION- being proposed.

Over the years, plans would be drawn up and then scrapped. At least two "Constellation" logos would also be created. Above, we see the final CONSTELLATION plan. The mixed-use complex joins the Springhill Suites Hotel, which opened in late 2011. A second construction phase, the Constellation Apartment Homes facility, was completed in late 2022.
