The project sat idle, as the MISSION CENTER site lay vacant and growing weeds. A second plan -for a GATEWAY complex- was announced in November 2011. Construction was to commence in 2012. 2012 came and went, with no construction underway.

The project was assumed by a New York City-based company. A third
redevelopment plan surfaced in February 2018. Work started on two
structures, but ground to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic. By
the mid-2020s, the GATEWAY project -delayed for over 17 years- was
tied up in litigation.
