The children's Playcastle at MEMORIAL CITY is located in the West Court, at the center of the original 1960s mall. A waterless "Wonderfall" fountain occupied this area back in the day.

Montgomery Ward closed for good in March 2001. The abandoned store was razed, with a new Target built on its space. The store was dedicated in October 2003.
