The existing Sears across the way was worked into a swanky shopping, residential and office complex. Known as CLAYTON LANE, it was completed in the mid-2000s.

Several changes have been made by 2013. A Foley's Home Furniture store has morphed into a Macy's. Two north block stores have also changed. The CLAYTON LANE Sears is still in operation, but not for long...

Over the past few years, tenants in CHERRY CREEK WEST have closed and not been replaced. The plan is to demolish the structure and replace it with a mixed-use collection of retail and high-end residential buildings. Among all of the pre-development hoopla, it appears that no one is bothering to consider that this facility was Colorado's first shopping mall...and that it is still in nearly pristine condition.
