By the late '90s, MANOR EAST MALL was in a downward spiral; this brought on by anchor store closings and competition from a newer shopping mall in the trade area. The MANOR EAST complex was demalled in the early 2000s, with nearly half of the structure being demolished. A new power plaza -known as TEJAS CENTER- was created.
