Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!
Atlanta's Ansley Mall

Stores in Midtown Atlanta's mini-mall began opening in the fall of 1965. The earliest operational tenants were SupeRx Drugs, Kroger, Economy Auto and Sand Bar Casuals. An official grand opening was held in April 1966, when the largest store -F.W. Woolworth- welcomed first shoppers.

An interior view of said store. It included a luncheonette known as the Ansley Mall Grill.

Donna Douglas, co-star of CBS-TV's "The Beverly Hillbillies," was one of three Hollywood actresses who cut a ceremonial ribbon at the dedication of ANSLEY MALL, in early 1966. She was assisted by Sue Ane Langdon (on the left) and Nancy Kovack (on the right). The trio were on a national promotional tour for "Frankie and Johnny," a feature film they had just made with Elvis Presley.
