This complex, in the northwestern environs of the Rubber City, was the sixth major shopping facility developed by Youngstown's Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation and the second enclosed mall in the Buckeye State (SEVERANCE CENTER, outside of Cleveland, being the first). This sign stood at the main parking lot entry and beckoned shoppers into the original retail center.
Summit County's SUMMIT MALL was officially dedicated in October 1965. The complex was promoted with this logo.
