A 240,000 square foot Penneys, the fourth original SOUTHCENTER anchor, was one of the chain's largest stores. In fact, it still is. In the present-day, the SOUTHCENTER J.C. Penney is the chain's fourth-largest location.

A circa-1970 SOUTHCENTER site plan. The mall had been dedicated in July of 1968. It encompassed around 1,339,200 leasable square feet and was the Evergreen State's largest enclosed shopping center. When fully-leased, it housed 110 stores and services.
