Point me in the direction of Albuquerque. We begin our article with a circa-1969 logo for the Duke City's first enclosed and air-cooled shopping complex. In its early days, it was known as simply THE MALL.

THE MALL evolved from an open-air strip complex known as SNOW HEIGHTS SHOPPING CENTER. Its first operational store, a Furr's supermarket, opened for business in the fall of 1956. Furr's would operate at the shopping hub for nearly 45 years.

Our article's first shopping complex plan dates to 1963. At that time, the shopping center envisaged in the mid-1950s was (more or less) fully-realized. It now encompassed around 162,100 leasable square feet.
A stunning ultra-modern building housed a Home Savings & Loan Association branch. The office welcomed first depositors in early 1965.
