In 1964, MOORESTOWN MALL was populated with tenants typical of a mid-1960s shopping center. These included a 5 & 10, supermarket, cinema and drug store. In all, the mall spanned approximately 750,000 leasable square feet and housed forty-two stores and services. Its parking area had room for 6,000 autos.

The court area in the east end of the complex was known as the Gimbels Atrium. It had splendid flora and fauna. In the center was "The Great Winged One," a fountain sculpture.

The mall's resident supermarket, Shop-Rite, opened as part of the March 1964 formal dedication. The store encompassed 27,000 square feet.

Gimbels Moorestown anchored the east end of the shopping hub. The store, the fourth branch in the Gimbels-Philadelphia division, would go through a succession of nameplates over the years.
