Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!

The Golf Mill Theatre made its debut in December 1961. Originally a single-screen venue, it was twinned in December 1969 and expanded into a triplex in 1973.

The Mill Run Playhouse, on the north end of the complex, was shuttered and demolished. In the mid-1980s, the shopping hub was expanded and fully-enclosed. In 1987, a MainStreet store anchors the North Mall. The South Mall has also been reconfigured, with an ample Food Court installed.

Kohl's joined the mall in 1989, when it acquired and rebranded the MainStreet chain.

By the 21st century, a megaplex cinema is the major attraction in the South Wing of GOLF MILL CENTER. The complex now spans approximately 1,057,000 leasable square feet and contains 120 stores and services under its roof. The mall parking area has space for nearly 5,500 autos.

Shop 'n Save Market, a Missouri-based grocer, operated out of the mall's supermarket space.
