Our first DIMOND CENTER layout depicts the mall of the late '70s. "Phase One" encompassed approximately 180,000 square feet on 2 levels. The complex was anchored by a Safeway supermarket and Pay 'n Save Drug. Its retail roster listed thirty-six stores and services.

This circa-'82 view was taken soon after the opening of a 20 million dollar "Phase Two" expansion. With its completion, DIMOND CENTER became the largest enclosed mall in Alaska, a distinction it holds to this day.
