We zoom through time to the WESTLAKE CENTER of the 21st century. The pedestrian mall, which bisected the complex, has been excavated and replaced with an automobile thoroughfare. This demalling project was part of a massive, 3-year-long renovation.

A circa-2009 WESTLAKE plan illustrates the early 2000s remodeling. Existing structures are shown in black, with newly-built (or substantially rebuilt) sections indicated in gray. The "synergetic community center" now houses eighty-eight stores and services and twenty-six leased office spaces.

The center's Trader Joe's is a relocation of an existing store. Cost Plus World Market occupies a second level.
