Las Vegas' The Boulevard

Vegas' first major shopping mall was built in the city's southern environs. Going under the prospective name of PARKWAY MALL, the complex-to-be had been renamed THE BOULEVARD by the time of its completion, in 1968.

The fully-enclosed and air-conditioned facility stretched for 1,645 feet from end-to-end. Sears anchored the north, with J.C. Penney presiding over the center of the center. A Broadway store stood on the south end.

Irwin Molasky (1927-2020) was the primary developer of THE BOULEVARD mall, as well as the 1,000-dwelling, Paradise Palms housing development. He was also instrumental in the construction of the Sunrise Hospital, McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas Convention Center and University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus.

THE BOULEVARD was built to serve as the de facto downtown of the neighboring Paradise Palms plat.
