Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. This site includes historical sections about regional department stores, discount stores, 5 & 10 stores and supermarkets. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!
Above, we see the fourth Neiman-Marcus location, which was also the chain's first shopping mall store. It opened for business, in August 1965, at Dallas' NORTHPARK CENTER.

The downtown Dallas Neiman-Marcus flagship opened in the fall of 1914. It was expanded in 1927, 1941, 1953 and 1970. Although the undeniable core store of the chain, the 129,000 square foot operation is not its largest location. This distinction is held by the 224,000 square foot GALLERIA store, in Houston.
