Welcome to the largest mall and retail history site on the internet. The MALL HALL OF FAME is a vintage shopping mall scrapbook. Its focus is on shopping complexes built -in the USA- between 1946 and 1979. This site includes historical sections about regional department stores, discount stores, 5 & 10 stores and supermarkets. Don't forget to visit our four Shopping Mall Memory Lanes, which transport you through time to a mall in 1956, 1963, 1970 and 1977!
In this set of snapshots, we see the mall's four seasonally-themed concourses. In this view is the Spring Mall. The shopping center had no skylights, so there was no natural lighting. Live plants would not survive, so planters were filled with artificial flora and fauna whose color palettes matched the theme of the respective wing.

Moving eastward, we have the Summer Mall. Note the "TV Pod" in the center of the corridor. This futuristic feature (one of many such terminals throughout the facility) broadcast commercials and programming created in a tv station studio on the Lower Mall.
